Gerrit Jacob is a Berlin-based fashion designer and illustrator. Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, he moved to London at age 18 to study BA Womenswear at Central Saint Martins, graduating in 2016. Following time in the womenswear studio at Balenciaga and Martine Rose, he returned to CSM in 2017 for his MA, an offer realized with the support of the ‘Christopher Kane in Memory of Professor Louise Wilson’ Scholarship. Opening the CSM MA show in 2019, his 8-look menswear collection based on themes of teenage disenchantment debuted as a mixed-reality presentation sponsored by Three. In 2021, following 2 years at Gucci, he relocated to his home country - Germany - to begin his own eponymous brand in Berlin. Exploring themes of class-based identity and German kitsch, his first collection “A Secret Between Us” embraces the anxiety, headlessness and nonsense of the moment.
